CHILDREN'S RESIDENTIAL SERVICES
Opened in October 2018!
The Healing Foundations Therapeutic Shelter is a residential crisis home for children ages 4-17 who are experiencing a Mental Health Crisis. For more information, please call 218-999-0221.
The Crisis Shelter is open to ALL children regardless of insurance. The Shelter's per diem fee is paid for by a collaborative agreement between Northland Counseling Center and Itasca County Health and Human Services.
Children's Crisis services are mobile and can meet with a child in the home, community, and/or school setting. Crisis services include assessments, stabilization, and brief interventions to reduce the need for a higher level of care and/or hospitalization. The Crisis Team can be reached 24 hours a day at 218.256.2659 OR walk-in Crisis Services are offered during business hours at the Kiesler Wellness Center (right behind the Grand Rapids, MN Walmart).
CHILDREN AND FAMILY OUTPATIENT SERVICES
Outpatient mental health services are initiated through NCC's main office. Children and their families can speak with their NCC therapist to determine if animal and horticultural interventions may be of benefit to the child/family's care needs.
Our therapists are trained and/or certified in various approaches to the treatment of mental health symptoms. Much of our staff are also trained in addressing trauma, including EMDR and Trauma-Focused CBT.
Northland Counseling Center is Certified to provide the EAGALA model of Equine Therapy. This form of therapy involves all groundwork (no riding is involved) and is provided by a team that consists of a Mental Health Professional, an Equine Specialist, and the herd of horses!
IN-HOME THERAPEUTIC SERVICES
Children's Therapeutic Supports and Services (CTSS) provide community and/or in-home support for children and their families. The goal of CTSS skills is to improve the child's and family's functioning in the areas of symptom management, social abilities, stress reduction, and crisis survival.
